My work is the woodcut, plank pine, oil ink
on Japanese rice paper. The designs are drawn from nature and transferred
to the block. The concern is for a pattern of line and shape, black
and white. The color versions are collage, colored inks on hand-tinted
paper, cut to shape and glued together. The subjects are landscape,
interiors, still life and the figure. I'm a realist, but modify the
image; I use a contour line with a great attention to edge. I want
my work to look old-fashioned-- a romantic look.
